✅ LEGRAND ROMENIA – COMPANY HISTORY

Our History

​

The roots of Legrand Romania trace back to 1985, when the foundation of the company was established under an earlier industrial entity focused on technology development and manufacturing innovation. Over the years, the organization evolved through strategic mergers and restructuring, leading to the formation of a unified and forward-looking enterprise in the early 1990s.

By the late 1990s, the company had transformed into a diversified manufacturing group, expanding its capabilities in electronics production and system integration, while strengthening its position in international markets.

In 2000, Legrand Romania expanded its manufacturing footprint by establishing a key production facility in Romania, enhancing its capabilities in electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and supporting global customer demand with high-quality, scalable solutions.

​

During the mid-2000s, the company accelerated its international expansion by entering the Asian market, with operations and partnerships established in India. This strategic move enabled Legrand Romania to access new markets, improve cost efficiency, and strengthen its global supply chain network.

​

In 2011, a dedicated sourcing and procurement office was established in Hong Kong, positioning the company closer to leading component manufacturers and ensuring efficient material sourcing and logistics optimization.

​

Over the years, Legrand Romania has continuously optimized its operations, focusing on high-value electronic manufacturing services, smart automation systems, and advanced engineering solutions. Production and operational strategies have been aligned to enhance efficiency, scalability, and technological excellence.

In 2020, the company expanded its global presence through the acquisition of a leading electronics manufacturing group with operations in the United Kingdom and Central Europe. This milestone significantly strengthened Legrand Romania’s footprint in key international markets and enhanced its capabilities in high-complexity manufacturing.

In 2023, Legrand Romania further strengthened its global position by acquiring a well-established EMS company in the United States, marking a strategic entry into the North American market and reinforcing its global service capabilities.

​

In 2025, the company continued its growth trajectory by acquiring a major European EMS group with facilities in Germany and Romania. This acquisition expanded Legrand Romania’s expertise in critical sectors such as defense, railway technology, and medical systems, while also enhancing its design, engineering, and original design manufacturing (ODM) capabilities.

Our strategy is built on delivering innovative, reliable, and future-ready electrical and electronic solutions that empower industries worldwide.
